Job Overview

Primary responsibilities include overall accountability and leadership for a complex projects successful and timely implementation as well as satisfying the intended business results. Core responsibility for managing relationships and communicating with the project sponsor, senior management and a wide range of project contributors. Identifies key barriers to a projects success and actively manages all mitigation activities.

Major Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight on various projects of a complex nature. Responsible for planning, developing, and executing schedules to ensure timely completion of project deadlines and milestones.
  • Ensure methodology compliance and manage resolutions, reporting to management when necessary.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with project staff throughout the life cycle of the project. Monitor and manage the project budget. Must be familiar with the system’s scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member in order to effectively coordinate the activities of the teams. Identify and monitor project risks.
  • Regularly communicates to senior management regarding the status of specific project deliverables.
  • Provide measurable input into new products, processes, standards or plans in support of the business.
  • Effectively lead the project team to align with the business objectives, project schedule, and project budget.
  • Effectively deal with difficult situations. Help develop solutions to complex problems. Mentor more junior Project Managers.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • PMP certification preferred

Knowledge / Experience

  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated expertise in the areas of strategy, planning and project management required processes and techniques.
  • Experience with structured methodology and project planning tools.
  • Knowledge of MasterCard and the payments industry preferred.

Skills/ Abilities

    • Listening, oral, written and presentation skills and effective interpersonal skills.
    • Organizational and planning and multi-tasking skills..
    • Strong leadership, interpersonal, relationship-building and negotiation skills required with a solid track record for developing internal and external relationships.
    • Demonstrate ethics and values to generate high team trust.

The Amazon Advertising Campaign and Creative Services (CCS) organization is seeking a strategic sr. Program Manager, Release Management to support our Moderation Automation and Relevance Systems (MARS) Product & Program teams. MARS teams make advertisements on Amazon safe, trustworthy, and high quality for our end customers. They integrate Advertising ad policies to ad product solutions for self-service ad formats, and programmatically assist advertisers in campaign creation with fast, relevant, and frictionless creative feedback.

Sr. Program Managers, RM (MARS) manage self-service ad products, features, and tools releases that directly affect our end-customers, Advertisers, and internal moderation operation teams. They effectively influence product development strategy and product prioritization leveraging their expertise in cross-product moderation technology and workflows. They protect the end-customer experience with self-service ad formats and proactively identify opportunities for improved and defect-free moderation processes. They configure and implement effective moderation workflows as product teams build long-term automated product solutions.

They autonomously gain partner buy-in and implement mechanisms that raise the moderation readiness bar for all self-service Advertising products and tools. They independently develop and manage roadmaps, project plans, risks and dependency logs, releases planning calendars, status updates, testing plans, launch and change management communication plans, escalations, and release post-mortems. They build simplified processes that automate repeatable activities, promote global standards, improve testing rigor, remove internal process bottlenecks, and drive productivity gains. They leverage their expertise in moderation processes and their deep understanding of self-service products to author moderation requirements, drive prioritization, and oversee release success.

The candidate will have high standards for themselves and everyone they work with, and will be constantly looking around corners to prevent shortsighted decisions. This role requires a strong ability to find creative solutions to challenging problems, excellent communication skills, and ability to easily navigate ambiguity and define a path forward. MARS Release Management sits within the Campaign and Creative Services (CCS) organization, along with MARS Product & Program teams. MARS RM focuses on delivering moderation automation and workflow simplification. Job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior management
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
  • 5+ years experience in program or project management or 3+ years of experience with an MBA
  • Experience owning program strategy and end to end delivery
  • 5+ years experience delivering cross functional projects or 3+ years of experience with an MBA
  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
  • Experience defining and executing against program requirements
  • 5+ years of work experience with process/product improvements and business analysis
  • Strong program management and analytical skills, be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, and have the ability to effectively influence and communicate with global stakeholders
  • Proven ability to think and move quickly and manage difficult tradeoffs to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in strategy, change management, release management and rolling-out large scale initiatives. Experience executing both strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Experience planning, scheduling, implementing projects in a demanding, change-oriented, fast-paced environment requiring a high degree of deadline-driven productivity
  • Proven ability to work with team members to design scalable processes, implement strategic projects that solve business problems, with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively with cross functional groups.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills that enable you to earn trust at all levels, including senior leadership.

  • MBA is preferred.
