Position Summary

Provides proactive services to project teams, business customers, process management teams, and management with a focus on facilitating effective planning and oversight of projects, establishes collaborative and strong relationships with operational leaders and decision makers throughout the organization to promote the practice of sound project management principles. Responsibilities may include working in various departments. Focuses on tactical aspects of projects through the evaluation of job costs, productivity improvement and process efficiency associated with work performed. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers at all levels of the CPS Energy organization. Participates in strategic team efforts and the development of departmental goals and objectives. Management of project deliverables, including satisfaction of scope requirements, cost/budget adherence, schedule management, risk evaluation and mitigation, and quality management.

This position will be for EDS supporting the districts.

Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and manages initiatives according to the organization’s project methodology.

Your Impact at SAM

A Project Manager is responsible for the oversight and reporting of budgets and utilization of resources. This role is the key point of contact between SAM and clients. Project Managers oversee the day-to-day operations of field and office staff for multiple projects, including, the tracking of deliverables. They are responsible for proposal writing, business development, and staff development.

What You Bring To SAM

  • Construction background preferred
  • Barricade inspection and bridge construction preferred

Position Summary: Manages daily operations including the staff. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and budget parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Job Description

  • Must have demonstrated success in Marketing and Business Development professional engineering services in the San Antonio-Austin TX area.
  • Must be capable of directing and managing a multi-discipline team of design engineers or technicians on water and wastewater projects.
  • Will be expected to provide input to and participate in strategic planning for the team. Work closely with Business Unit management team to identify growth, project delivery, staffing and financial performance.
  • Will be expected to adopt and apply all Merrick policies and procedures and to apply them on assignments
  • Work closely with clients to effectively describe and deliver scope of work.
  • Prepares and oversees fee proposals for water and wastewater design work.
  • Must be capable of leading design teams and performing independent planning and design tasks, reviewing the designs of others, preparing construction documents , and managing the successful delivery of assigned projects.
  • Exercise initiative, judgment and knowledge commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
  • The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and to effectively interface with clients in the public and private water sector.
  • Limited travel may be required.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School.Master’s degree preferred.
  • Fifteen (15) plus years of experience in water and wastewater engineering in Texas strongly preferred
  • Established track record of success in business development and client satisfaction
  • At least five (5) years of demonstrated successful experience in Project Management of Municipal and Private Water projects
  • Strong technical design experience in water and wastewater projects
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Required Certifications:
    • P.E. (Professional Engineer) State of TX is required or able to secure within six months.
    • Affiliations with NC AWWA-WEA & NC APWA is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Cultural Resources Practice Leader/Project Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams in our power, oil & gas, industrial, water, and transportation sectors in the South Central region and nationally to help plan, staff, and execute major CRM efforts
  • Work as part of a regional team of Principal Investigators and collaborate with existing CRM team leaders responsible for managing archaeological surveys and site documentation, including feature and artifact identification and analyses; performing shovel test pits (STPs); site descriptions; photographs; and mapping
  • Must possess the technical knowledge to supervise archaeological field technicians and crew chiefs in field and office settings
  • Must be able to manage the production of professional quality reports for NRHP and NEPA compliance
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field and a minimum of seven years’ experience managing junior staff in all aspects of field and office work
  • Must have experience identifying, recording, and conducting testing and curation activities prehistoric and historic resources
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures)
  • Must also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn, and execute new tasks
  • Will be required to submit both a writing sample and verifiable references

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to record cultural resources in the field without any physical assistance (this could include hiking short distances in scrub and native vegetation).
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone and email.
  • Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments.
  • Work hours other than 8 to 5 which may include weekends and/or night shifts
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Be able to operate a vehicle day or night
  • Travel required at times.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Management of archeological teams comprised of principal investigators and field crew chiefs
  • Experience recruiting full time and part time archeologists and historians
  • Network of regional / national technical experts required for Phase II testing and analyses
  • National Historic Preservation Act - Section 106 coordination management
