Our Transmission & Distribution global practice is looking for a Project Manager to support substation design projects, ranging from 12.47-kV to 500-kV.

Major Responsibilities For The Project Manager Will Include

The Project Manager will manage, direct and coordinate all aspects of work related to greenfield and retrofit projects at substations, switching stations and/or collector stations. The majority of projects will be of the physical design variety. The Project Manager will report directly to the Manager of Transmission Projects and work closely with the client Account Manager. The Project Manager is responsible for the profit and loss of individual projects, the successful completion of projects within specified dates, and establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Owner, subcontractors, regulatory agencies and any other project stakeholders.

  • Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations;
  • Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion including siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, project controls, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management and closeout.
  • Drive project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs;
  • Assist with internal project financials, staffing, legal coordination, risk management, and human resource issues.
  • Serve as primary point of contact with client regarding efforts such as client coordination, strategic planning, master scope management, budget finances, subcontracting, project staffing, environmental compliance, facility support and schedule attainment.
  • Develop and implement project policies and procedures, establish project controls systems and ensure the Project Team is adhering to office QC procedures.
  • Conduct quality reviews on substation design projects (physical or P&C) as needed.
  • Work closely with the Project Team to confirm deliverables and services are being provided to client’s satisfaction. This includes coordination with team members located at other Regional and/or Branch Offices.
  • Report regularly on progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential impacts, and any issues requiring office support.
  • Develop and mentor team engineers and members on design and execution efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited curriculum.
  • Minimum of 7 years of high voltage substation physical and P&C project experience with at least 3 years related project management experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government and public contracts on project-related matters.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to travel. Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.

What You Will Do

  • Act as primary business manager for ColonialWebb on construction projects
  • Primary responsibility for the redemption of equipment, material and subcontractor estimates and secondary responsibility for labor and other costs
  • Purchasing responsibility for the majority of non-commodity items, as well as the release thereof
  • Responsible for submittal, operations and maintenance and closeout process
  • Negotiation and pricing of all change orders

  • Planning and coordinating with Construction Manager on requirements of the projects as they relate to scheduling, sequence, production and quality

What We Are Looking For

  • Hands-on project management experience of commercial construction projects in excess of $3M (single project) or 3 to 6 simultaneous Mechanical portions of equal value
  • Demonstrated responsibility for projects lasting a year or more
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably, Mechanical, but Civil is acceptable), Building Construction, or Construction Engineering Management
  • Strong analysis, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated skills, experience and proficiency with technology, including knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel and project management software

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for full project ownership including, but not limited to:

  • Coordinate all activities with the Superintendent and project team.

  • Oversee and management of all subcontractor Requests for Information and Requests for Proposal forms.
  • Manage the Owner Change Order Requests process
  • Prepare and distribute all subcontractor Change Orders and associated budget revisions.
  • Prepare and distribute the monthly Owner Applications for payment.
  • Oversight of all project administrative logs and close-out activities.
  • Help drive the site specific safety plan and the importance of a safety-first mindset
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects at varying stages within a lifecycle.
  • Manage a small team of employees, providing oversight, direction, and mentoring in accordance to Hourigan’s policies and procedures.
  • Foster and cultivate a team culture that aligns with Hourigan’s mission and values.

 Qualifications and Experience

  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field position or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Construction estimating, means and methods, accounting, document administration, and a thorough understanding of industry practices.
  • Application of LEED certifications is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience with scheduling software, Textura, CMiC, and Bluebeam preferred.

  • Provide feedback for improvements to work processes and procedures that can be uniformly applied.
  • Interact with customer/client as required.
  • Report material and delivery issues, both quantity and quality, to the Production Management as well as Drafting, Estimating & Purchasing.
  • Obtain appropriate state building license as required. Pursue continuing education as it pertains to the profession.
  • Oversee and manage daily activities of field labor crew where required.
  • Pursue continuous improvement within the position working towards the overall production goals.
  • Meet or exceed previous performance levels in the areas defined by the key indicators and specific goals for the position and the Production Department.

DPR Construction is seeking to fill a key role in our Richmond, VA business unit, as the SPW Drywall Virtual Design & Construction, VDC Manager. Reporting directly to the Regional VDC Manager, the successful candidate will lead development, implementation and support of all VDC processes across the northeast region with a primary focus on self-performed work.

The primary objective for this individual is to support established VDC initiatives leveraged by project teams and SPW crews both in the office and field, and supporting model-based project management, process workflows, and construction technology deployment for DPR business units.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for successful deployment of VDC initiatives and technology platforms / solutions for our self-performed work (SPW).
  • Engage in regional and national steering efforts to support the adoption and growth of model-based technology in support of our self-performed work
  • Work with vConstruct leadership to progress VDC driven workflows for SPW with an emphasis on quality, while striving to build regional consistency in project deliverables allowing for flexibility to adapt to individual project team/SPW crew needs
  • Work with BU VDC Manager and BU SPW Leader to define pilots and strategies to help drive digital efficiency through capturing of BIM data (project life cycle).
  • Work to build alignment with preconstruction groups to support model-based estimating approach.
  • Support project specific VDC implementation by working with project teams to support early driven model-based coordination efforts approaches and modeling practices.
  • Oversee project-specific VDC strategies, scope and plans in addition to managing successful implementation of DPR’s current best practices and high standards for predictable and efficient VDC delivery
  • Support the on-site construction team efforts in the implementation of VDC applications and processes to drive digitalized layout and prefabrication for self-performed work.
  • Work with VDC and SPW leadership to identify scalability opportunities through craft labor training programs.
  • Contribute to KPI’s and metrics to evaluate and assess value, impact, ROI of established VDC initiatives

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented individual that will relish performing in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, with ability to multi-task, produce quality deliverables, and meet project-based deadlines. The successful candidate will possess:

  • Ability to work in a flat-organization environment that requires full transparency, team collaboration, leading by influencing, and socialization of initiatives
  • Minimum 5-7+ years of construction technologies hands-on experience in the AEC industry driving the adoption of VDC on large capital projects
  • Regular travel to and from project sites and DPR offices in the region and occasional travel to various regional DPR business units/offices.
  • Influence stakeholders face-to-face, and indirectly, whether through verbal or written communication plan, organize, and execute activities
  • Ability to plan and organize VDC-SPW strategy on a per project basis; budget management and allocation of funds; creating and supporting internal services related to VDC platform; Creating and reviewing BIM contract language
  • Demonstrated experience in researching, analyzing, and applying new technological trends to support BIM/VDC operations and corporate direction.

Technical Qualifications

  • Strong presentation skills and confidence to evangelize and speak in small or large groups
  • Advanced knowledge of CM processes and Project management tools: CMiC knowledge a plus
  • Advanced level software knowledge in Autodesk (Revit/MWF, AutoCAD, Navisworks, etc.) and/or Trimble (Tekla Structures, Trimble Connect, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of implementation and support of Autodesk BIM 360 products (Classic - Glue, Field, Docs, and/or Plan and familiarity with nextGen products – Design, Project Management, Model Coordination)
  • Strong knowledge of contractor facing authoring and collaboration tools such as Revit/MWF, Tekla, etc.
  • Expert in leveraging and supporting Autodesk Navisworks Manage and/or Simulate
  • Strong knowledge of model element quantification / estimation: Vico, Assemble Systems, Innovaya, and/or Navisworks QTO
