Job Summary

The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Program Manager to be focused on two key pillars: Telco Services Delivery and increasing customer contacts in the Consulting Portfolio to join us. In this role, you will be accountable for ensuring delivery excellence and assisting with managing customer growth through your ability to develop a trusted advisor relationship with senior customers. In addition, you will need a consultative mindset and display motivation to inspire a diverse, cross-functional team to achieve delivery excellence. Lastly, one of the core competencies is to attain excellent coordination skills. As a Program Manager, you need to be a self-starter who wants to be in the middle of ensuring customers are adopting and receiving the best value for the consulting they have purchased. You will work on problems of diverse scope, evaluate identifiable factors, and demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. You'll also need excellent communication skills and the ability to support multiple teams and geographies for Red Hat's fast-growing Services team. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as single point contact for ownership and accountability for all consulting delivery related activities
  • Be responsible for project and program revenue; identify new revenue opportunities, increase revenue recognition and productivity, lead projects successfully while meeting revenue and cost budgets
  • Maximize customer loyalty and satisfaction with key customer stakeholders by managing value in service delivery
  • Manage issues tactically and strategically with customers
  • Implement industry leading practices (e.g., ITIL, PMI, SAFe) around service delivery
  • Adopt and use Red Hat best practices around tools, automation, workflows, and processes to ensure successful delivery to customers, standardize and replicate where appropriate
  • Become a trusted advisor and develop a communication strategy to support ongoing and regular contact with onsite customers and across multiple project teams
  • Provide delivery escalation management, serving as an escalation point of contact for issues beyond project team authority; resolve conflicts involving project priorities, resources, or contractual issues with customers
  • Coordinate cross-functional team meetings in a highly matrixed organization (support, finance, sales, resource management, etc.) with a best practice approach
  • Serve as a point of contact between the customer, consulting teams, and project accounting team
  • Coordinate with the Resource Management Office (RMO) to manage staffing requirements and support project closeout resource assessment activities
  • Collaborate with product owner(s) to understand and create product backlog and release plan
  • Assist with training the project team on application of appropriate procedures and processes
  • Institute an effective change management process appropriate to the project delivery methodology by closely monitoring scope, request for comments (RFCs), and working with scrum teams to communicate impact of change requests, prior to implementation
  • Be a accountable for team metrics, including sprint backlog, burn-down charts (capacity, load, velocity), and release planning

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or engineering; Master’s degree is a plus
  • Extensive experience serving as a customer point of contact in consulting, professional services, program management, or a similar position
  • Knowledge of specific industry project management and technical delivery methodologies from PMI, systems or software development, product development, or agile
  • Ability to participate in a virtual office setting and maintain an active and dynamic presence via phone and email
  • Excellent customer service, relationship management, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to inspire, inspect, and adapt culture using iterative approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate project teams and individual contributors and mediate conflicts
  • Experience using various project management and agile tools
  • Ability to persuade peers, supervisors, and subordinates across the business to achieve business outcomes
  • Experience in the telco space ideally with telco customers
  • Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as knowledge of agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
  • Experience managing highly strategic and complex projects and interacting with business and technology individuals at all levels, including the executive level
  • Ability to manage multiple, highly-complex projects in parallel, while providing frequent financial, risk, and business opportunities
