The Operational Excellence Project Manager is responsible for leading the Stage-Gate Process for new product development and working with the cross-functional teams to streamline and enhance the current process. The Operational Excellence Project Manager will work independently and with teams to develop project plans for stakeholders, and customers through discipline in project execution, risk mitigation, and improved time to market for the new and modified products. Additionally, a key focus of this position is to develop and implement a capital gating process and incorporate resource allocation and portfolio review tools as part of the overall Stage Gate Process.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead LiDestri Stage Gate process. In collaboration with the Sales and Sales Ops teams, manage introduction of new opportunities, project progression, gate approvals and new product launch.
  • Analyze and communicate Stage Gate projects to make the process more transparent and assist the company leaders in making effective and strategic business decisions. Interact proactively with the other functions, especially the business leads and operations to ensure the overall process objectives.
  • Evaluate Stage Gate process effectiveness and work to improve and streamline process steps, analytical tools and applications used to administer the process. Propose improvement ideas and solutions as needed.
  • Facilitate and coach within the project teams and enhance the interaction and collaboration between the various functions and to ensure clear project plans are in place at gate meetings
  • Contribute to training in project management.
  • Manage projects directly and/or work with functional project leads to meet Stage-Gate milestones and deliverables and to identify, lead, and manage projects and initiatives including scope, budgeting, resource allocation, quality assurance, training, and reporting.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve tools in SharePoint or other applications to improve operational functionality.
  • Analyze performance data, document trends, and collaborate with stakeholders and owners to determine solution for improved performance.
  • Demonstrate business acumen; project, process & team performance management, outstanding communication skills; ask the right questions to understand business impact and risks.

Required Education, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, and/or significant project management experience (> 5 years)
  • 3+ years’ experience with a Stage, Phase Gate type process, preferred.
  • CAPM or similar certification, and/or experience working in a Project Management Office (PMO) environment, preferred.
  • Proven ability to work in an environment with changing priorities; must be flexible to meet business needs
  • Proven communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to think analytically and execute tactically (i.e., deliver results).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, utilize problem solving tools, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
  • LEAN techniques and methodology / Six Sigma understanding required.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Suite of Applications and associated software packages.
  • Working knowledge of the manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Collaborative work style, ability to train and coach other employees effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as being able to work in teams.

Working Conditions

  • Occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, with a potential of up to 25 pounds;
  • Exposure to manufacturing plant floor requiring the use of personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, bump cap, skid-resistant leather shoes, etc.);
  • Minimal travel may be required between facilities;
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practice (hair net, no jewelry, no fake nails or eyelashes, no food/drink, gum, etc. in manufacturing Plant).
