Workers Compensation and Disability Insurance Program Manager


We are looking for an experienced and well-organized Workers Compensation professional to manage and assist in the efficient operation of GreenSlate's workers' compensation and disability insurance programs. To best serve and protect GreenSlate and its clients, the successful candidate will be responsible for nurturing a positive relationship with our outside insurance broker who oversees the requirements of the various companies that underwrite our plans, as well as implement risk management, claims processing and operational procedures that will support our program objectives and ensure compliance.

To do this, we must provide and develop the tools and procedures that will maximize our responsiveness to our clients' demands, while also minimizing the exposures and inherent underlying risks of production activities. The candidate must become proficient in understanding our client's needs and our program's requirements in relation to physical production work, while responding appropriately to satisfy all parties.

The goal is to deftly provide all parties, i.e. our clients, our broker, and our underwriter, with a sense of collaboration, support and solidarity with the company. We need to facilitate our client's production needs in alignment with the risk management required to maintain our program's fiscal success. In addition to workers compensation, you will also oversee client compliance with our Disability Insurance Policy as well as Paid Family Leave benefits (where required in certain states).

What You Will Do

  • Manage Workers Compensation Program and implement comprehensive directives, to include a review of current written policies and procedures, as well as supervise all program elements.
  • Ensure that program protocol is being closely adhered to, but relative to client concerns and requirements.
  • Work with management to streamline current processes and find program improvement opportunities.
  • Provide information regarding GreenSlate's program requirements to clients as well as internal departments, and direct risk management efforts across all stakeholders.
  • Train company managers and sales team on workers' compensation best practice and company procedures to properly communicate with clients.
  • Lead quarterly workers' compensation reviews with program broker and insurance carrier representatives.
  • Manage and nurture the workers compensation team to support all department efforts including:
  • Oversee the team to ensure proper risk management procedures are implemented and followed in the origination, maintenance and tracking of client policies and set-ups.
  • Oversee and communicate with the team to ensure claim details, adjusters' questions, and outcomes are timely and sufficiently tracked.
  • Maintain the EZLynx app to assist in the tracking of client claims, policy details and department metrics.
  • Review current program standards in relation to OSHA requirements to substantiate compliance, including establishing an annual audit of workers' compensation files to ensure that OSHA logs are being obtained from and maintained on behalf of clients.
  • Stay abreast of trends and innovations in the field of workers' compensation administration and keep current on legislative and regulatory issues at the State and Federal level.
  • Attend and conduct meetings, and lead or participate in discussions regarding workers' compensation issues.
  • Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints; evaluate problems and take appropriate action to resolve issues/concerns, and advise staff on how best to take action as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client and industry relationships.
  • Manage and direct the internal group to meet program objectives.

Who You Are

  • A licensed individual with strong knowledge of Workers Comp Rules & Regulations, ideally on a national basis.
  • 7+ years' experience in workers' compensation policy origination and or claims management.
  • Ideally have experience working in the media & entertainment landscape, physical production work a plus.
  • Must be willing to work occasional odd hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays and answer calls after hours.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to express competency and exude confidence, empathy and understanding.
  • The ability to deal with potentially stressful situations and personalities and work well under pressure.
  • Strong ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively to meet given time parameters.
  • Experience working with all levels of an organization.
  • Relationship builder, specifically customer/client focused.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with focus on communication and problem resolution.
  • Strong work ethic, reliable, self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • A keen ability to listen and communicate.

  • Accurate, with acute attention to detail.
  • Competent in computer programs/skills: MS and Google Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and Gmail) and general internet applications.
