Job Summary

Commercial planning Manager for the contact lens portfolio (1 day/Frequent Replacement products). Includes both Branded and Customer Brand products across Corporate Account customers.

Focus Areas Include

  • Development of project timeline/plan; delivery to project/implementation timelines; coordination of cross functional teams; forecast development and maintenance of new products; provide status updates, report on timelines and identify risks, issues and resolutions with functional leads
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional leads
  • Facilitate meetings, facilitate input sessions, and manage activities of the project team

Essential Functions & Accountabilities

Project management for contact lens portfolio. Leads cross functional teams that oversee project from strategy to execution plans. Examples include:

  • New product launches which include both branded and Customer Branded products. Launches may be for new products, new fit sets, pack size or packaging changes. Key activities include:
    • Product name and packaging
    • Demand and Financial forecasting
    • Regulatory and Global Supply Chain approval
    • Product set up
    • Component procurement and product build
    • Professional Services support
    • Marketing Communications plan (pre, launch, post launch)
    • Sales Training
    • Execution planning and monitoring metrics
  • Ongoing product forecasting for revenue product, pricing, fit sets and product rationalization. Develops tools to support identification of incremental impact and cannibalization of new product introductions
  • Promotion development
    • Lead cross functional evaluation, alignment and approval
    • Ensure program implementation set-up
    • Set up tracking/analysis
  • Product rationalization
  • Price changes, including changes in list price, floor price and/or promotion price
  • Organizes project team and leads project kick-off meeting. Provides project overview, establishes standing meeting schedule, identifies project meeting actions and owners
  • Facilitates cross-functional meetings with each functional area reviewing their plans, questions and risks to the project. Develops and manages project timeline. Provides updates to timelines to review progress and manage risks
  • Develops status reporting on project milestones and monitors metrics and timelines. Provides ongoing project progress updates with key stakeholders
  • Identifies project risks, issues and resolutions. Flag critical path item progress and minimizes exposure and risk on projects
  • Set and follow approval protocol that adheres to corporate governance rules
  • Uses various project management software tools to manage operational aspects of project
  • After project completion facilitates a project debrief to identify what worked well and areas of improvement
  • Liaise effectively with other departments, specifically R&D, RA/QA, Manufacturing, Professional Services, Finance and Commercial teams
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have strong project management skills
  • Adept at managing multiple complex projects at once
  • Strong knowledge and use of project management software tools, Microsoft Office etc.
  • Able to professionally address issues and alert team if projects are ‘off track’
  • Can distill complex items into senior level updates
  • Manage cross functional teams
  • Collaborative team building through strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with all levels within the organization
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be adept at listening and communicating on project progress

Work Environment

  • Travel 10% of the time
  • Normal office environment
  • High stress may occur, especially around project due dates
  • Energizing and fast paced environment
  • Sedentary to light physical effort necessary to perform the job


  • 5-8 years experience in managing complex projects
  • Experience being lead project manager on key projects
  • Basic contact lens understanding a plus
  • Technical background a plus


  • Bachelor’s degree; Advanced degree or certification in Project Management a plus
