Sr. Manager, Project Manager (Product Community of Practice)

As a Senior Manager leading the Commercial Bank Product community of practice, you will be responsible for driving associate development and engagement goals for our Product community. The commercial product management organization has expanded by 300% in the last 3 years. You will be working to set what our collective goals are as an organization, working with groups across Capital One to develop training, career growth and community events. Working with leaders to establish goals and prioritizes for the practice, execution and tracking of progress. Working with external conferences and communities to keep the practice engaged in industry activities. This role requires strong teamwork, communication, leadership and organization skills needed to drive progress and decisions across various Commercial Product leaders and teams.

General Responsibilities

  • Work autonomously on large and small scale projects that will drive associate development and engagement
  • Coordinate across various parts of Capital One on community of practice initiatives
  • Drive projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed
  • Ensure status reports are submitted regularly and are accurate, appropriately detailed, and visible to all relevant stakeholders. Maintain key project documentation.
  • Keeping Commercial Bank Product executives informed and engaged
  • Display strong consulting and collaboration skills to work with partners to understand Product specific efforts. Developing new learning courses, setting role descriptions, defining expectations and performance management practices
  • Proactively Identify and remediate risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating where necessary. Leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent.
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes
  • Identify and coordinate community of practice events to drive engagement and associate development
  • Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously using strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Identify ways to improve and streamline business process
  • Demonstrate organizational agility to adapt to changing demands and work in a dynamic environment and matrixed organization

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 7 years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters / MBA degree
  • At least 10 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 2 years of People Management experience
  • Experience with developing a community of practice
  • Strong understanding of learning and development
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills
