Scope of Position
The Project Manager will be responsible for executing the workplan and achieving goals and outcomes of a two-year initiative called “Advancing a Statewide Technology Resource and Trainings.” This project is funded by an Innovation Grant received by the MN Department of Human Services. The Project Manager will work in concert with the CEO and the Technology Work Group of ARRM to advance the work and overall mission to educate county case managers, providers and individuals with disabilities about what technology can do to support individuals with disabilities to live their best lives.
Key Result Areas
- Set the Foundation: Gather data starting with the 11 Regional Resource Specialists (RRS) in Minnesota. The assessment will yield Year 1 and Year 2 targets. Identify and assemble key stakeholders from Year 1 regions including the RRS, providers, others. Work with stakeholder groups to create and conduct regional needs assessment. Based on results, develop regional action plan.
- Outreach to case managers: Based on what we learn through the assessment our focus now shifts to county case manager trainings. The Project Manager must engage with the RRS and county leaders in the region to start conversations about how best to market the trainings to case managers. Identify dates/locations. Provide content for promotion to key stakeholders in region.
- Outreach to providers: Engage with the provider community in the region utilizing ARRM and MOHR membership database. Entice providers to participate in the Tech 101 online training course that helps to explain how the funding works for technology and answers basic questions breaking down barriers. Highlight success stories previously captured by ARRM.
- Focus on individual with disabilities and their families: Engage with the structure that is available in the region to communicate directly to individuals and families about how technology can be used to support a person’s desires and wishes. Highlight case studies of how assistive technology and remote monitoring can assist individuals and families.
- Hold 5-6 trainings in Year 1 and another 5-6 in Year 2: Working with consultants from ARRM the Project Manager will learn the skills to train case managers on the Technology Resource Center curriculum previously developed and tested. The Project Manager will conduct the trainings in the regions identified in the Year 1 work plan, same for Year 2. Review results of the satisfaction survey completed by county case managers and adjust the approach and/or content accordingly. Work with the counties and RRS toward successfully embedding the trainings into new case manager orientation.
- Work with other Assistive Technology organizations in Minnesota (i.e., MN-NEAT) to help with trainings and support for the various counties.
The Project Manager is a 20-hour/week position with expectations that working remotely will be the norm, at least for the first 6-months of the grant. The Project Manager will be the lead staff person advancing the overall workplan and will be required to travel from time to time to various parts of MN to meet with stakeholders and others. Mileage and hotel accommodations will be paid for by the grant. We planned to hire a 20-hour a week individual as a staff member but would be open to receiving applications from individuals who are consultants.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills
- Skilled in oral, written communications (public speaking, giving presentations)
- Skilled in facilitating, working with and supporting committees
- Skilled in building and maintaining relationships, both within and external to the organization
- Skilled in problem solving, including the ability to identify and appropriately evaluate alternatives.
- Skilled in project management
- Ability to collaborate with others in a team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of Assistive Technology and/or Remote Supports as it applies to disability services sector. Good knowledge of the other
- Experience with providing trainings (in-person, virtual, webinars, etc.)
- Familiar with multiple webinar formats (Zoom, WebEx, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders in various communities
