Job Overview

This is an exempt position reporting to the Site Manager to support the Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D) of facilities at The Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. Working as part of a joint venture with BWXT to form BWSR the Lead Project Manager will be responsible for the effective management of work activities on the site, with efforts primarily focused on D&D projects at the site. The Lead Project Manager is part of a Project Management Office (PMO) implementing complex, multi-year projects through identification and completion of critical path and parallel work activities to achieve optimum performance.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    • Developing and maintaining a PMO that is capable of all aspects of project management (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and project closeout) for the site
    • To lead effective implementation of the Earned Value Management System, as well as risk management and planning for Babcock and Wilcox Shaw Remediation (BWSR)
    • This position is responsible for data administration for enterprise scheduling, resource, and earned value management tool sets
    • Development of corrective action plans for troubled projects
    • Overall coordination of initial work planning/scoping working with operations and engineering to develop a resource loaded schedule and cost estimate
    • Primary interface with operations and project planners/schedulers
    • Assist in planning and resolving interface issues with the customer and production groups
    • Interface with customer technical representatives to ensure Preparation of Monthly Financial Reports including Monthly Progress Reports

Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in relevant degree (Engineering, Science, Business)
    • MBA
    • PMP Certification
    • Working knowledge of DOE Order 413.3B
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience using Earned Value Management Systems using Primavera 6 or similar project management software is desired
    • Experience in field of construction and/or D&D
    • Minimum of 7 years project management supervisory experience on large, complex projects involving radioactive and/or hazardous waste generation and disposal.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain radiological qualifications in the Naval Reactors Program
    • Must be a US Citizen -- no dual citizenship
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Level L Security Clearance

****Experience working in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program with current clearance are preferred****
