We are seeking a qualified Structural Engineer with extensive analysis and design experience on large and small hydro power projects. The Engineer will be part of the Waterpower Business Unit and will be focused on developing new business as well as providing technical leadership in the design of concrete and steel structures involving dam spillways, intake structures, power house, hoist support structures and stability analyses of dams and related structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working in a fast-paced, dynamic team with other engineers in a multidisciplinary environment
  • A heavy focus on client engagement and building key relationships with Waterpower clients in Ontario and internationally
  • Performing design calculations, analyses using software programs and documenting findings and recommendations in a report
  • Preparing specifications for a variety of structural engineering tasks involving construction and/or rehabilitation of concrete and steel structures for hydroelectric generating stations, substations, and dams
  • Developing preliminary and detailed designs as well as overseeing and guiding the preparation of civil/structural drawings for construction
  • Leading and managing the process of engineering commitments in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and procedures to ensure successful project completion
  • Managing the design teams of junior structural engineers and designers, for successful completion of the project(s), while ensuring a continuous career development of staff
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities
  • Stamp documents and drawings as required
  • Assist in preparing proposals

Qualifications And Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
  • A Master’s degree in structural engineering will be considered an asset
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, and at least 8 years of relevant experience working on hydropower projects, involving the analysis and design features of hydropower projects, such as:
    • Stability analyses of dams and other related structures
    • The analysis and design of hoist supporting structures and hoist towers
    • Seismic analysis of structural steel hoist tower structures, and concrete dam structures, involving Response Spectrum and Time History Analyses
    • Design of powerhouse structures, involving turbine foundations, substructure and superstructure
    • Design of penstocks (buried penstocks, above ground penstocks and liners)
    • Design of gate structures including Vertical gates, Radial gates, Bulkheads, Stoplogs etc.
    • Balance of Plant design for hydroelectric facilities including design of concrete and steel structures, platforms, cranes and monorails etc.
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or other Canadian Province (candidates with strong international experience and eligibility for P Eng. designation in Canada will be considered)
    • Site experience will be considered an asset
    • Sound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards
    • Experience with Staad Pro, SAP2000 or similar structural analysis software
    • Solid experience in the preparation of reports and specifications is required
    • Strong written and verbal communication skill, interpersonal and relationship management skills
    • Strong client focus and a desire to achieve results including the ability to manage multiple priorities and time lines

The Project Manager will manage, direct, and coordinate all aspects of work related to the new or rebuilding of overhead transmission lines. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the overall project scope, schedule, cost, and risk management as well as establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and any other project stakeholder. Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manages overall project performance (quality, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource issues, risks, and customer satisfaction), utilizing the resources of team members.
  • Serves as single-point-of-contact by establishing, maintaining, and managing customer, subcontractor, and joint venture partner's expectations (where applicable) relating to project performance.
  • Prepare proposals, assist in presentations and participate in contract negotiations.
  • Reports project status and performance data as required to management, project sponsors, and other stakeholders.
  • Plans, monitors, and controls the project throughout its life-cycle (bid, contract award, engineering/design, procurement, construction, closeout).
  • Work closely with the project team to confirm deliverables and services are being provided to the client’s satisfaction
  • At any given time could be involved in a combination of:
    • Managing a major project.
    • Mentoring others. (based on PMI's PMBOK®)
    • Assist in marketing and business development activities.
    • Assist in engineering changes to the project plans.
    • Developing Main Line’s Process for managing Projects.
    • Developing Standards for Engineering Project Execution (Checklists, Flowcharts, etc.)

Required Experience

  • Knowledge of Transmission, Distribution and Substation Projects
  • Knowledge and application of PM processes.
  • Knowledge and application of Financial Management.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as PM for Electric Power Delivery Projects
  • Ability to lead small teams.
  • Basic understanding and application of contract commercial terms.
  • Experience / knowledge of construction operations, power transmission & distribution design, financial acumen and team-based management.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Thorough understanding of utility industry practices/standards, operations, contract management with emphasis on power projects.
  • Proficient understanding of CPM scheduling and associated software applications (Primavera, MS Project) is required.
  • Proficient understanding of Project Controls.
  • BS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or the ability to attain within 2 years of employment.

Purpose Of Position

" Position will be responsible for leading technical teams and working with customers to execute programs and meet customer in market needs in a broad case of optical technologies

Day To Day Responsibilities

Identifies commercial, technical, and manufacturing levers to improve the program's business case. Oversees product testing and evaluation to confirm the initial value proposition, build fundamental understanding of the technology that enables continued differentiation, and ensure manufacturing implementation of requirements are met.

The Program Manager for Schedule & Dispatch for Security will be responsible for supporting the strategic design and program management for one of the key transformation programs of the BSNA Business Transformation organization. Reporting to the Program Leader, this role will assist in the creation of the overall Schedule & Dispatch strategy and the selection of new technologies, tools and processes for BSNA, and will own execution of those strategies, technologies and processes into the Security domain. Supporting change management across the organization in support of Transformation will also be critical aspect of this role. Desired outcomes include an improved customer experience, an improved technician experience and positive ROI for the organization.

  • Execute long term and short term plans involving strategy development, resource allocation, work plans, timelines, and financial outcomes for the Schedule & Dispatch transformation program in the Security domain.
  • Provide input into and support for the Program Leader in developing cross-domain strategies and program roadmap.
  • Provide regular feedback to Program Leader regarding pain points, inefficiencies and any unmet business needs in existing Security operations.
  • Own the seamless service delivery and hand-off of implemented programs to the Security business upon completion of each phase of transformation.
  • Partner with Dispatch Managers in HVAC and Fire to identify opportunities to align approaches, share feedback and recommend improvements.

How You Will Do It

  • Own the execution of the five-year roadmap for the Call Intake, Schedule & Dispatch program in the Security domain including delivering on overall goals and objectives, performance metrics, and timelines.
  • Ensure customer and technician satisfaction metrics are met – NPS, employee satisfaction and others.
  • Build a financial business case for Security domain programs and track progress to the success metrics coming out of it; report out to leadership on progress.
  • Work with domain counterparts in HVAC and Fire to ensure consistency in how JCI is implementing new Schedule & Dispatch processes and technologies.
  • Build close partnerships with the Security domain leadership and key Area field leaders to buy in to program roadmap, provide domain and field resources for team staffing, and champion projects through to completion.

What We Look For

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in one or more of the following functions: field operations, service delivery, dispatch, program management or project management.
  • Experience executing program initiatives which align with business goals and budget.
  • Experience in identifying and assessing moderately complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience in effectively supporting change within a team, function or area.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, OneNote, PowerPoint, Power BI and SharePoint).
  • Experience in Security industry.
  • Willing to travel up to 75% of the time for business purposes.

Preferred Qaulifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.

The primary responsibility is to manage a project by leading the planning and the development of all project deliverables. The Project Manager is fully responsible for managing the budget and work plan and all Project Management Procedures.

Safety

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for overall job safety as per the safety manual for the particular job.
  • Insure that test holes are dug where required.
  • Report any damage to utility lines to Vice President of Field Operations.
  • Ensure that jobsite meets all OSHA standards including cleanliness.

Payroll And Equipment Reports

  • Ensure the accuracy of payroll and equipment information.
  • Responsible for maintaining petty cash.
  • Responsible for obtaining and preparing Monthly Cost Estimate/Forecast.

Scheduling

  • Control all material deliveries, production schedule, and long lead-time items.
  • Coordinate all work with sub-contractors.
  • Coordinate all utility requirements with providers.

Planning

  • Efficiently maintain all records and files in field office.
  • Develop and implement a project schedule that meets the goals of the owner.
  • Ensure project activities are thoroughly and properly planned.

Supervision

  • Supervise and ensure that all tasks are carried out by Project Team.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of related experience.
