The Sr. Project Manager will play a vital role in the Design Group responsible for all facets of leading teams of professionals and managing project efforts.

Execute and lead all phases of design which includes experience with the entire life cycle of projects from concept development through design, implementation, installation, commissioning, and startup. Projects are in a variety of industries (food and beverage, consumer products, and pharmaceutical) and will include both existing process, packaging and building improvements through new construction.

Responsibilities

  • All aspects of client relationship development and project development and execution including development of project plans and strategies, leadership of project resources, management of project budgets and forecasting, schedule management, project engineering, integration, installation, start-up and project closure.
  • Focus on overall project success and accomplishment of objectives related to scope, schedule, and budget, as well as critical elements of client satisfaction and client development.
  • Desired is knowledge of process and packaging systems.
  • Knowledge of feasibility studies, planning, concept development, scope, detailed design, and construction documentation is highly desired.
  • Demonstrate daily problem-solving capabilities including strategic and critical thinking.
  • Maintaining and growing solid client relationships is a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of project engineering, design engineering, or project management experience with packaging, processing, and automation applications in food, beverage, consumer products, or similar manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience with the entire life cycle of projects from concept development through design, implementation, installation, commissioning, and startup is a plus.
  • Requires outstanding engineering and project skills including machinery applications, computer skills, and excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A practical understanding of process design, automation, construction management, and electrical / control and instrumentation design integration preferred.
  • This position requires strong analytical skills, basic understanding of project management fundamentals as well as strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, & AutoCAD).
  • Successful Project Managers are flexible and adaptive and have strong initiative and accountability. Leadership skills and experience with a drive to grow and expand local and regional clients is also important.
  • Candidates need to possess effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. This position requires an individual who is a self-starter and can work with minimal supervision.
  • Willing and able to travel as necessary for project requirements to include but not be limited to: project installation and start-up activities, client meetings, company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, or conventions, etc.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineering license ideal

The Scrum Master serves a vital role and is in the unique position to help coach, guide and facilitate an energetic and knowledgeable team. As the Scrum Master you will serve as a critical liaison between the product delivery team, product manager and senior management providing critical direction, communication and assuring the quality delivery of products and services to our customers.

Responsibilities/Tasks

  • Leads one or more agile teams as the scrum master and team member.
  • Employs best practices for agile/scrum methodology, while operating within the department’s overall SDLC Framework.
  • Works collaboratively with the product managers and team members to give input and support to the strategic direction of the initiative.
  • Motivates and supports team members and ensures they have the tools and knowledge to do their jobs and that all blocking issues are resolved quickly.
  • Creates self-organizing agile teams and facilitates the delegation of tasks and responsibilities to appropriate team members.
  • Acts as moderator for sprint planning, daily standups, sprint demos, and refactoring/reflection sessions.
  • In partnership with the Product manager & Product Owner ensure a robust, prioritized backlog is available.
  • Supports Product Manager in understanding and communicating team effectiveness and performance.
  • Communicates team status to all internal stakeholders and continuously refines/improves metrics by working with the team.
  • Coordinates cross team dependencies with other Scrum Masters and participate in Agile Community of Practice (CoP).
  • Escalates issues that require executive attention.
  • Discovers opportunities to support organizational initiatives and develops strategies and programs to promote initiatives.
  • Participates in the development of programs as a strategic partner that supports the company plan as directed by leadership.
  • Provides planning, project coordination, and management for the development of organizational initiatives, while concurrently facilitating efficient operations to meet current and future business needs within the organization.
  • Responsible for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of project development and management.
  • Performs analysis to determine root cause of challenges and provides solutions for improved operational and process performance.

Education

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Business or a technical discipline (Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering) required. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company’s learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification (CSM, SSM) is highly preferred and encouraged.

Experience

Seven years of progressive responsibility as a scrum master/agile project manager in an Insurance environment. Proven experience as a scrum master on several successful software development projects involving multiple developers is preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities (ska) Required

  • Clear understanding of one of the agile frameworks and key best practices (Disciplined Agile, SAFe, Scrum, Kanban etc.).
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and planning skills.
  • Must demonstrate leadership ability to effectively interact with all levels of management.
  • Stakeholder Management, Negotiation and Communication skills.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.
  • Ability to help manage scrum team backlog and priorities using agile based tools (ServiceNow, Jira, Rally/Central Agile, Version1, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to effectively present budgetary and/or cost information, and respond to questions as appropriate.
  • Demonstrable conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrable risk management and mitigation skills.
  • Knowledge of tools used to assist with scrum team planning (ServiceNow, Jira, Agile Manager, Version1, etc.).
  • Ability to be flexible as projects are often non-routine and require re-prioritizing of workload.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform other assignments as required by senior management.
  • Knowledge of workers compensations industry preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office and setting with no unusual hazards. Travel may be required.

Program Managers are responsible for managing customer requirements/expectations regarding quality, cost, and delivery. This individual will lead a team of project engineers, designers and detailers to apply sound engineering practices to design industrial ergonomic systems and automated tooling. The individual must possess and apply working knowledge of solid modeling, layout drawings, functional specifications, and engineering standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage customer scope of work to ensure all contractual terms and conditions are met
  • Establish/maintain all project timing, financial aspects and key milestones within the ERP system
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support customer expectations
  • Develop, maintain and deliver progress reports
  • Monitor and manage customer requirements, quality, cost and timing elements of assigned projects
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and create contingency/recovery plans
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate assigned team members and establish accountability for their assigned work
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all activities and provide efficient service to internal and external customers

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transportation Management Center Program Manager for our New York State operations. This position can be based out of any of our New York state or Northeast WSP Office locations.

Your Impact

  • Develop and implement quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes and practices
  • Support project administrative processes such as progress reporting, performance management, and invoicing
  • Lead staff recruiting and development efforts

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
