Job description

Position Summary...Walmart Canada is continuously working toward the transformation of its supply chain capabilities to help its customers save money and live better. We are seeking a high-performing, ambitious and resilient Program Manager for our End-to-End (E2E) Supply Chain Strategy team.

The mission of the E2E Supply Chain Strategy team is to identify gaps and sub-optimal processes in Walmart Canada’s supply chain, develop and implement innovative vendor-to-store capabilities and processes, with cross-functional impact and support transformation strategies for Walmart Canada.

The Program Manager, E2E Process Transformation, reporting directly to the Director of E2E Supply Chain Strategy, will be responsible for the execution of E2E supply chain transformation programs to support Walmart Canada’s readiness for three new Walmart distribution centers across Canada, over the next two years ($400M+ capital projects).

This role will involve the planning, execution and management of activities and deliverables that are required to seamlessly transition Walmart Canada into its new supply chain infrastructure and operations. This includes developing a deep understanding of Walmart’s E2E supply chain processes, collaborating with vendors and stores to onboard them to Walmart’s requirements, carefully planning the transition of operations to the new environment while mitigating overall risks, managing the roll-out of ASNs across the network as well as master data initiatives.

The right candidate will use utilize effective communication, stakeholder management (including Senior Directors and VP-level executives) and project management methodologies to successfully execute this role.

What You'll Do...

  • Manage the planning and execution of End-to-End readiness for multiple supply chain transformation projects such as implementation of automated distribution centers – define E2E business requirements, onboard vendors and internal partners to Walmart requirements, coordinate changes in store delivery schedules to adapt to new ways or working, coordinate transition planning activities in preparation for the go-live of new projects.
  • Develop and communicate business plans, priorities, and risks with key stakeholders across the organization (including Walmart vendors and teams from merchandising, replenishment and flow planning teams, technology, master data and distribution center and store operations) and collaborate with them to develop integrated solutions, utilizing strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Manage core project activities such as maintaining project plans and action, risks and decisions.
  • Communicate key project updates and risks to Walmart Supply Chain Leaders (Directors to SVPs), through steering committee and executive committee meetings.
  • Leverage global Walmart relationships and alliances (International, Walmart US, Suppliers, GS1 etc.) to develop and implement strategies to achieve a best-in-class Supply Chain.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in developing efficient vendor-to-store supply chain processes that meet current and future defined service level requirements.
  • Collaborate with Walmart Supply Chain leaders to identify organizational supply chain gaps and bring innovative transformational solutions to the project pipeline.
  • Develop business cases for new E2E initiatives that will help Walmart achieve its ‘Every Day Low Price (EDLP) promise to customers.

Position Summary...The Design Project Manager role will support Walmart Canada’s Design Team as the Design gatekeeper for all format and special projects outside of major capital project program requiring design development, including but not limited to merchant, operations, Omni, FM and Licensee initiatives.

What You'll Do...

  • Key point person for Program Management team and SBU Project Managers for design development of format and special projects with a particular focus on initiatives requiring new design development, but inclusive of all pre-approval format projects. Engaging with multiple teams and aligning multiple stakeholders to identify opportunities.
  • Gather and coordinate design requirements with all cross functional stakeholders including merchants, operations, Omni, FM, LP, ISD, Marketing, Fixtures and others as required as part of design development. Document decisions made throughout design development process. Actively participate in project status meetings and scope and budget reviews. Store visits may be required as part of the design development.
  • Develop design drawings/sketches for internal use to document business requirements, ensuring all designs are code compliant and capture technical building requirements. Responsible to consider all store sizes and formats as part of design development. Align details with prototype standards and various templates. Resolve unique store requirements as needed and influencing business partners on specific design impacts and requirements.
  • Develop design timelines specific to each initiative including permit timelines based on jurisdictional requirements.
  • Communicate design requirements for format and special projects to Design Execution team to be executed as part of major capital project, as a special project or as part of a bundle. Support Design Execution team as required.
  • Develop project cost estimates in conjunction with construction estimating team.
  • Engage and contract with external consulting teams to develop design drawings as required to facilitate final budgeting and program delivery. Collaborate with Prototype and Standards for inclusion of new design initiatives into prototype and template documents.
  • Maintain and monitor special project inputs in Walmart Central Data Repository (Tririga) from concept development to capex approval stage.

    Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience in Space planning and retail design
  • Knowledge of construction industry principles and building technologies
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Familiar with building code requirements
  • Proficient in Revit, Autocad, MS Office including MS Project
  • Retail operations and/or merchandising experience an asset
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to gather relevant information and integrate findings into physical store space design.
  • Ability to influence and advise business on industry best practices.

What You'll Do...

  • Develop and execute a communication strategy for the Format Development team.   • Serve as Format Development’s liaison with Walmart International, including: manage interaction and inputs into Walmart International project management tools and financial modeling programs; managing Canada’s contribution to the Walmart International Capital Review Committee meeting process, including preparing materials for submission, scheduling meeting times and collaborating with Walmart International Real Estate on minutes.
  • Prepare presentations for executive audiences in Canada and Bentonville. This activity would include: the creation of a storyboard with key messages; creating presentation content from scratch and/or amalgamating content from other others into a seamless document; and holding contributing stakeholders accountable to timelines. Presentations can include internal communications (e.g.: Spark) and formal strategic presentations (including but not limited to: annual capex strategy for Walmart International, 3 Year Plan, Quarterly Business Reviews with Walmart International, etc.).
  • Lead regular meetings attended by Format Development leadership. Create agendas based on previous content and leadership input, facilitate meetings, take detailed minutes, and follow up with stakeholders.
  • Support projects that are aligned to Walmart Canada’s Polaris strategy. Provide structure and leadership to the project team, facilitate regular team meetings, track key deliverables and deadlines, hold team members accountable to their deliverables, provide reporting to the leadership team on project progress, risks, and changes.
