Position Overview

The Orientation Program Manager will be tasked with the development and implementation of a comprehensive new student and family orientation program. They will then lead university-wide strategic planning and program development for academic and co-curricular processes, communications, and campus-based and online programs for over 5,000 new students and family members annually.

Essential

to their work will be developing outreach and supporting access to programs and services for students and families from traditionally marginalized populations. They will work in coordination and collaboration with Coordinator of Strategic Retention on retention efforts and strategy viewing Orientation as the first phase of anti-melt and retention efforts for the University. A member of the leadership team for the Division of Enrollment Management, the will report to the Vice Provost of Enrollment Management and will supervise a professional position which provides support in the coordination of Orientation programming.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with four years of experience in a higher education environment required. Expertise supporting student success, particularly the transition to college and first year experience. Proven leadership, communication and organizational abilities with students, staff, faculty, and central administration required. Demonstrated development of cross-institutional collaboration and partnerships. Effective team development, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Experience assessing programs and services, and evidence of creative approaches to program development and management. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment.

Provide leadership for and oversee the day-to-day management of the Tutoring Center. Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and two to four years experience in a higher education setting working directly with students or managing a student service program required. Experience developing, managing and assessing complex programs, including budget and personnel management required. Experience hiring, training and supervising full time and student staff required. Demonstrated understanding of teaching and learning theory, pedagogical best practices, and professional standards for tutoring services required. Effective organizational, interpersonal, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills required. Ability to communicate effectively, including effective writing, speaking and presentation skills, required. Ability to work with students and co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other web applications required. Ability to evaluate and implement change to improve the accessibility and equity of programs and services required

At the direction of the Principal Investigator, coordinate and oversee all data collection for a large NIH funded trial (575 families in Vermont assessed every 6 months) of adolescent neural development. Responsible for ensuring the integrity of protocols, accurate data collection, continuous training of all data collection staff, and coordination of annual study site monitoring visits. Provide functional supervision for staff involved in data collection.
