HDR currently has an opening for a Drinking Water Project Manager/Technologist to join our team. Primary duties include independently leading multidisciplinary teams to develop facility planning documents, process design, detailed designs, plans, specifications, and estimates for water treatment plant upgrades including lime softening, membrane treatment, disinfection, chemical feed systems, as well as distribution system infrastructure . The candidate will also support marketing efforts, is expected to be a client manager for multiple clients and be an integral component in the expansion of our drinking water portfolio in the area.

Other specific responsibilities include working directly with clients, drinking water process design, establishing appropriate design methods, report preparation and coordination, equipment sizing and selection, reviewing engineering specifications, and permitting and regulatory compliance . The project manager will be responsible for independently coordinating the work of staff engineers and CADD technicians throughout the development of projects while ensuring deadlines are met and within budget.

The selected candidate will have excellent writing, presentation, and speaking skills, as they will work directly with the owner. The ability to establish client relations is important because they will be involved in client development, marketing, contracting, design, and production.

Primary Responsibilities

As an employee-owner in this Bridge Project Manager role, we’ll count on you to:

  • Plan and manage all aspects of small to medium single-discipline engineering projects or large, routine projects.
  • Foster and develop client relationships for yourself and your staff.
  • Independently coordinate work of engineers and balance planning team throughout entire project’s development.
  • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Conduct work sessions for design development and contract documents in conjunction with other staff.
  • Coordinate workload throughout entire project development and ensure completion of documents on schedule.
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule.
  • Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed.
  • Mentor younger staff and support continued development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • P.E. license
  • 5+ years bridge/structural design experience
  • Proven, hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects
  • Proficiency with bridge analysis and design software programs
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and CAD
  • Experience using structural analysis programs, bridge design software, load rating and bridge rehabilitation
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment with various teams
  • Project management skills
  • Strong organizational, listening and mentoring skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering in Structural Engineering
  • Experience with local owners is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to become licensed as a P.E. in additional U.S. states’ jurisdictions through the NCEES or similar

Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently seeking a Transportation Project Manager with a strong municipal background to work as a key member with our diverse Roadway Design Team. This position provides an opportunity to be in a leadership position to grow our municipal program. The successful candidate will be client focused and have the ability to proactively manage and market local municipal transportation design projects. Responsibilities include marketing local municipal clients, overseeing client development plans, providing technical leadership, growing the municipal design team as well as leadership opportunities for right individual. Leadership and management of the entire design process from qualifications proposal through preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates for construction of moderate to large transportation projects. This will include the following duties: Coordination and of all disciplines (roadway, structural, traffic, public involvement and environmental) and sub-consultants involved in the project team, coordination with project owner, technical supervision of roadway design tasks and capability to perform roadway design, project schedule and budget management, and quality control management. Previous experience as a Transportation Project Manager for municipal transportation projects is strongly desired.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering required.
  • PE license required.
  • 10+ years of related experience including designing/managing roadway engineering projects and project engineering staff required.
  • Familiarity with local municipalities’ personal and standards preferred.
  • Willingness to participate and take leadership roles in professional/industry groups.
  • Experience with marketing pursuits and presentations desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills a must.

Primary Responsibilities

HDR’s engineering practice in the Mid-Atlantic continues to grow and is need of experienced Project Managers in the Transportation field. These are key leadership roles for the area and will be responsible for helping to continue the growth of the program. We’re looking for individuals with strong backgrounds in multidiscipline project delivery supporting public agencies in Virginia, Washington D.C. and Maryland.

The primary duties of the Project Manager include planning and managing all aspects of small to large multidiscipline projects, providing technical guidance to staff; ensuring technical quality of work; maintaining project schedule and managing project budgets. As Project Manager you will coordinate the work of professional staff and balance the team throughout the entire project development. Our project managers are responsible for establishing strong client relations and a variety of business stakeholders. Works with the Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and the Department Manager for project reviews and with company management on an as needed basis.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters Degree in Planning, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or other technical field.

15+ years of progressive experience within the transportation field including documented task and project management success.

Previous experience with local transportation clients is strongly desired.

PE required.

Excellent Analytical, Writing And Verbal Communication Skills Are Required.

Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.

An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preference given to local candidates.
